Description of Location

Safety/Housekeeping

  • Scrap material picked up

  • Proper PPE being worn

Installation

  • All unused duct hangers are removed

  • Ductwork wrapped when in storage or until final connection is made

  • Transfer duct in place at full height walls for return air using fiberglass duct board

  • Verify all balancing/volume dampers are installed in the open position

  • Verify volume dampers are installed on all exhaust duct taps to an exhaust grille

  • All volume dampers are installed on taps downstream of VAVs and FPBs

  • No damaged or dented ductwork

  • No ductwork installed over electrical panels or equipment

  • Sounds and fire caulking in place (Hilti CP 680)

  • Verify all duct joints and holes in the duct are sealed

  • 36" wide duct and greater- pitch insulation to prevent water ponding

  • Hangers and supports installed outside insulation. Where gripple is used, ensure that the break in insulation is neatly taped over to hide the gripple

  • Outdoor ductwork- extend to inside face of outside wall and finish w/ (2) coats of Armaflex

  • Access doors open against system air pressure

  • Sheet metal flanges used where duct passes through interior partitions below ceilings and at exterior walls

  • All horizontal duct Leaving grease exhaust shall be pitched a 1/4"/ foot

  • Flexible ductwork shall not be less than 4' or more than 12'

  • Exposed mounting screws shall be pointed to match frame orientation

  • Duct supports hung straight and free of kinks or bends

  • Ducts held close to wall, overhead construction and other permanent enclosure elements

  • Conical or tapered taps with balancing dampers on all round ductwork take offs (except upstream of VAVS)

Insulation

  • Ductwork insulation per table

  • Insulation installed with smooth and even surfaces

  • Neatly beveled edge at interruption of insulation

  • All duct components (fire dampers, silencers, valves, etc.) are insulated

  • Ductwork insulation extended through all penetrations(walls, floors, ceilings, etc.)

  • All duct liner is not ripped and dry

  • Provide 1" clearance outside of insulation

  • Verify insulation on rectangular duct over 24" has pins in the bottom of insulation to prevent sagging. Pins should be taped over following installation

  • Verify insulation is not over compressed (I.e. 1.5" compressed below 1")

  • Install grease duct so a min. Of 6" and a max of 12" is maintained between duct and enclosure

Flexible Connections

  • Flexible duct connections installed at fan unit intake and discharge

  • Clear length equal between duct and fan around perimeter of opening

  • Fabric stretched taut

  • No metal-to-metal contact

Identification

  • Ductwork identified at 50' spacing, where exposed, where concealed by removable ceiling, and where it originate or continues into concealed enclosures

  • Ductwork identified with service and direction of flow in black or white stencil

  • All access doors identified with purpose and other instructions

  • Verify air flow is correctly indicated and clearly marked on all air terminal units

Misc.

  • Contractor drawings are current set with applicable changes posted

  • Photos attached

  • BIM drawings attached

  • Details attached
