Boundary Barrier pre 1/09/2008

  • PRE 1/09/2008 - child-safe doors / windows standards under 1992/1998 Regulations?

  • FROM 1/09/2008 - child-resistant doors / windows under Australian Standards?

  • Is height 1200mm or more measured outside the pool with 900mm between horizontal rails?

Fence - Mesh or Perforated

  • Aperture 13mm or less - is barrier height 1200mm or more

  • Aperture 100mm or less - is barrier height 1800mm or more

  • 500mm clearance from barrier to maintain integrity of height requirement?

General Pool Barrier requirements

  • Is barrier height 1200mm or more measured outside the pool barrier?

  • Is a 900mm NCZ1 and NCZ2 continuous and clear of any intrusions?

  • Is a 900mm NCZ3 and 300mm NCZ4 clear of any intrusions?

  • Is the pool barrier vertical spacing 100mm or less?

  • Is gap under pool barrier 100mm or less?

Balcony, Deck & Landing

  • Is floor clear of adjacent barrier 900mm from NCZ2 or NCZ3?

  • Is floor of balcony 1800mm or more above the pool level?

  • Are stairs/ramp access from a balcony/deck to the pool restricted by a child resistant barrier?

Gate requirements

  • Does gate open outwards and away from the pool?

  • Is gate self-closing and self-latching?

  • Is the gate latch release 1500mm or more above ground level?

  • Where min 450mm shield used: is latch on the inside of pool gate and a min 150mm from top of gate?

  • Between the gate hinges do they measure 900mm or more

Window requirements

  • Is window opening covered by permanently fixed security mesh or grill?

  • Is window restricted to open no more than 100mm?

  • Pre 1/05/2013 - is internal window sill 1200mm or more?

  • Is outside window sill 1800mm or more above ground level with 500mm clearance from barrier?

Other Requirements

  • Is pool registered on the DLG website?

  • Is the CPR chart visible from anywhere in the pool area?
