Method Statement / Safe System of Works

  • Are method statements in place for the works? <br>Have the method statements and risk assessments been communicated to the site CLG operatives?

COSHH

  • 1. Have hazardous substances been assessed & been communicated to the CLG operatives?<br>2. Are COSHH substances stored appropriately?

Manual Handling

  • Has manual handling been assessed where required?

Training and Competence

  • 1. Are CSCS and or skill cards being copied for record purposes? <br>2. Are skill cards relevant to the role of the operative? 3. Are operatives training certificates available for inspection?

Accident and Incidents

  • Is the accident book available?

  • Is there an adequate first aid kit & first aider available?

Consultation & Communication

  • Are daily activity briefings being delivered?

  • Are Tool Box Talks being delivered on a weekly basis?

Fire Safety

  • Are fire extinguisher checks being undertaken? Are they up to date?

  • Is there adequate fire safety signage displayed on site?

  • Are escape routes free from obstructions? Adequately lit?

Welfare arrangements

  • Are welfare facilities clean and tidy? Does the welfare comply with Schedule 2 of CDM?<br>

  • Is a monitoring sheet in place and signed by the attendant?

Portable Electrical Tools

  • Are tools in good order/ condition?

  • Are tools being combined inspection and tested (PAT) ?

Work Equipment

  • Is work equipment being inspected? Are there adequate recorded inspections available?

Lifting equipment / Hoists/ Forklifts/ Beam Hoists

  • Are there Reports of Thorough Examination and Tests records in place for all lifting equipment/ accessories?

  • Are operators trained in the use of Lifting equipment?

Housekeeping and material storage

  • Is the housekeeping of an adequate standard?

  • Are materials stored safely and appropriately?

Access & Egress

  • Are safe routes in place, entrances and exits clear and free from obstructions?

SIte signage

  • Are safety and information signs clearly displayed on site?

PPE

  • Is PPE signed for by operatives?

  • Is PPE correct for the task being undertaken?

Working at Height - Towers Podiums & Stepladders

  • Are mobile towers and podiums erected by competent persons (PASMA) and in accordance with instructions?

  • Is the tower/podium inspected and tagged?

  • Has a specific assessment been completed? Is this the most suitable way of working?

Noise, Vibration & Dust control

  • Are operatives exposed to high noise or vibration?

  • If dust or vibration is being produced is it being adequately controlled?

Traffic Management

  • Are traffic management systems set up as per plans - Advanced warning signs, barriers, cones etc?

  • Are vehicle bandsman undertaking works in accordance with their training (using appropriate hand signals etc?)

Environmental Waste Management

  • Are environmental tool box talks being delivered on a monthly basis?

  • Are appropriate Waste Carriers licences in place?

  • Are waste transfer tickets being retained and completed correctly and have the required information Signed & SIC & EWC Entered?
