Colchester Triumph 2000 Lathe Maintenance Checklist

  • Has the lathe been isolated and locked off and is safe to work on

  • Wipe down machine using contact cleaner, clear out all swarf from bed and collection tray underneath.

  • Run through X/Y axis on the lathe bed, making sure it moves smoothly along the full way.

  • If required, remove slides, clean down and re-insert and ensure bed moves smoothly.

  • Remove gearbox cover and inspect (visually) all gears, top up oil if required

  • Remove side cover to expose belts and inspect for wear, check they move freely and replace any damaged belts

  • Inspect both sets of chuck jaws for damage, report if damage found

  • Inspect tool posts and attachments, report any damaged/distorted tools.

  • Remove coolant tray from behind the lathe and clean out coolant skin and clean down pump.

  • Refill coolant tray with fresh coolant and run through until fresh coolant is present out of the hose (replace hose if clogged)

  • Put all tools and chemicals (coolant, cleaner) used back into their respective locations

  • Fill out and sign off risk assessment and upload *this* report and RA to BAB Activ.
