• Does the employee check the trailer is safe before entering (eg Wet floors Ice ) ?

 • Does the employee Check that dock leveller is in correct position ?

 • Does the employee Check that both zones on the trailer are set correctly (set frozen zone to -25 and set chill zone to + 2.) and that the temperature control panel is working and operational. Record temperatures on the Load Plan in the designated area ?

 • Does the employee understand they must Inform loading coordinator if there is no working internal temperature control on trailer and/or the temperature in either or both zones is set incorrectly. If the temperature is set incorrectly the loading coordinator must inform the yard shunters and ensure that they re-set it correctly. ?

 • Does the employee Ensure that all panels are secure and locked in position. Also ensure that all cargo rails and frozen doors are in good condition and in proper working order. ?

• Does the employee understand they must Report any defects / damage to loading co-ordinator or Line Manager ?

 • Does the employee should assist each other if trailer needs to be emptied of Combis ?

While retrieving the 4-sided Combis the loaders should do the following -

 • Record store numbers from load schedule?

• should agree which grids each loader will collect the 4-sided Combis from ?

 • Proceed to assigned grids with long bogeys. Find the 4-sided Combis for the first store, please note on certain days of the week the schedule may have a high number of Centra stores that may only have one Combi in each of the grids, in this case it is possible to collect Combis for multiple stores in each grid as part of a multi drop load, like merging assignments when picking. ?

 • Close the doors of the four-sided Combi and secure the doors with the straps.
Also check that each Combi is for the correct store. Do not, in any circumstances, voice confirm combis when they are in the grids. ?

 • Using the long bogey take Combis to assigned bay – forming 2 lines. Each loader forms a line of the combi’s they have shunted. ?

• Drop Combis as close as possible to loading bay but never reverse past the yellow line in front of the loading bays The DTM will liaise with each other to ensure all Combis for each store are collected and brought to the loading bay ?

• When 2 lines are fully completed the loaders will confirm combi numbers.
This negates the need for double checking at the door, the combis called in through voice will be verified correct combis for stores. Each loader only voice confirms the combi’s they have retrieved. They then both load the combi’s – one drawing from the bay and pushing to the other in the truck. ?

 • One label with the correct store number should be attached to the Combi, if this is not the case the loader should query with the load coordinator if he has the correct combi, Label the combi with the store number. ?

 • Where the loader has time additional cases should be checked on Combis prior to loading to ensure quality presentation, ensuring that product is stacked in such as fashion as to minimise the possibility of damages.?

 • Draw the combis into the trailer and load as stated below, this can be completed once the person has assessed the load, for the current average weight of most Combis this will be as per manual handling training. ?

 • It may be necessary to merge combis to make the load fit onto the trailer. When merging combis ensure that food safety rules are followed, and all product is stacked correctly. ?

 • All Combis loaded should be noted on the load plan using store number and placed on trailer as follows - ?

Combis placed on the narrow side of the trailer must be pushed in length ways.

Place the first Combi on the wider side of the trailer at the front of trailer, sideways to the left.

The next Combi must be put in length ways alongside the first.

Alternate the side where the Combi is placed sideways.

Repeat until each store is loaded.

 • Each route should be completed through your headset before loading door is closed. If there is any issue, please inform Load Controller ?

• All loads should be secured as follows

Chill section:
First 12 with 2 lock-cups and 1 medium bar
Next 12 with 2 lock-cups and 1 medium bar
Next 4 with 2 lock-cups and 1 medium bar

Frozen section:
First 6 with small bar and 2 cups
Next 5 with small bar and 2 cups
Always place small bar and 2 cups behind the last Combi

Close door and lock.

Place small bar and 2 lock-cups in front of door.

Rear of trailer:

Holds up to 15 Combis, secure with large bar, lock cups and strap if required.

 • If there are too many Combis for the load inform the loading coordinator giving details of the number of Combis for each store and their location ?

• When trailer is loaded close off load on voice, recheck the temperature settings or verify with loading coordinator that temperatures have been set externally if there is no internal controller. ?

 • Close the trailer door, secure the dock levellers close the bay door and turn the bay light to red. Only proceed to the Load C0-ordinator’s desk when the bay door has been closed and the bay light has turned red. ?

 • Give the completed load plan and to the Load Co-ordinator to be placed in drivers pigeonhole

 • Proceed to loading board, inform loading co-ordinator load is complete and the number of Combis loaded ?
