Physically check load rating on vehicle tow ball rating plate.

Check tow ball size is compatible with trailer being connected - Including hired trailers:

Check trailer is secure on tow ball by jacking up vehicle using trailers jockey wheel where fitted:

Connect trailer safety chain ensuring shackle is done up tight and both are correctly rated - ensure double axle trailer safety chains are crossed over:

Connect trailer light socket to vehicle:
