SITE SPECIFICS

  • Pursuant to the training provisions of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, the U.S. Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977, 30 CFR Part 46, or Ontario or Quebec Ministry of Labor requirements, site specific hazard awareness training must be provided to you before you enter the working areas of our property or are exposed to mining hazards.
    The following listed requirements are intended to provide you with a safety orientation and, when learned, to serve as safety training so required. Your cooperation and adherence to these requirements is mandatory and should help reduce the frequency and severity of injuries in the mining industry. Failure to follow these rules may result in your forfeiture of the privilege of access to our premises.

HAZARD RECOGNITION & AVOIDANCE

  • Obey all speed and traffic control signs.

  • Do not walk under suspended loads.

  • Never look directly at electric or gas welding operations without the proper personal protective equipment.

  • Use extreme caution when entering a building. Stop, observe, and then proceed.

  • Never take short cuts—use only designated walkways. Watch your step; walk, don’t run. Seasonal weather may affect safety.

  • Watch and listen for warning signs and signals. Obey them.

  • Never talk to anyone operating equipment or machinery. It could startle or distract them.

  • Do not hitch rides on or get off of moving equipment.

  • Smoking is prohibited on the Hephzibah Plant property.

  • Stay clear of operating equipment as mobile equipment has the right-of-way.

  • Keep clear of the swing area of cranes, shovels, etc.

  • Don’t cross under, over or between railroad cars.

  • Observe for large mobile equipment. The operator’s visibility is limited so allow plenty of room.

  • Be aware of Hazardous Chemicals being used, and familiarize yourself with the Material Safety Data Sheets.

  • Do you acknowledge that you are aware of the instructions and hazards described above?

Emergency and Evacuation Procedures

  • Report directly to the supervisor responsible for your clearance and have that supervisor instruct you in the emergency procedures used in that area.

  • Report all accidents promptly to the individual you have been cleared to see.

  • Check for fire extinguishing equipment locations and exit doors when entering buildings.

  • Do you acknowledge that you are aware of the instructions described above?

Health and Safety Standards, Safety Rules and Procedures

  • Industrial safety glasses, a suitable hard hat with reflective stickers visible from all directions, gloves, and protective footwear shall be worn at all times except in offices and similar locations. High-visibility clothing must be worn when working around mobile equipment.

  • Hearing protection devices shall be worn in designated areas.

  • Other personal protective equipment may be necessary as thesituation may require

  • Horseplay, fighting and practical jokes are prohibited.

  • Guns or other weapons are prohibited on the property.

  • No clearance will be given to anyone with the odor of intoxicating liquor on their breath

  • Possession, sale, transfer, use, or being under the influence of illegal drugs or the abuse of controlled substances on the Hephzibah Plant property is prohibited.

  • Report all incidents to a Hephzibah Plant Management Representative as soon as possible.

  • Use lock-out/tag-out procedures when working on equipment.(Discuss with Hephzibah Plant Safety Representative)

  • Face unit and use the steps and grab irons when getting on or off equipment.

  • Maintenance work requiring the use of tools or equipment requires you to consult with a Hephzibah Plant Management Representative prior to performing said work.

  • Prior to any blasting operation, you will be given specific instruction by a Hephzibah Plant Management Representative regarding when and where to proceed for your safety.

  • You are to proceed immediately and directly to the area you are visiting and to the person you have received clearance to see. Do not leave or wander from the area for which you received clearance without first getting the approval of a Hephzibah Plant Management Representative.

  • The use of fall protection when exposed to the hazard of falling is mandatory.

  • Headlights must be used from dusk to dawn.

  • Hot work, confined space, and stockpile permits are required if performing these types of tasks. Contact a Hephzibah Plant Representative as required.

  • Portable electronic devices are NOT to be used while operating mobile equipment or any type of vehicle.

  • Task training must be completed and documented for any mobile equipment being operated on Hephzibah Plant property.

  • Pre-use inspections of mobile equipment must be completed prior to use.

Respiratory Devices

  • The supervisor you have been cleared to see will inform you and give you instruction when respiratory devices are necessary..

  • Facial hair must not interfere with the sealing surface or valve function of the respirator.

  • Some of the hazards you could find at the plant are: Slip & Fall, Dust Exposure, Noise exposure, Wet floors, etc

Visitor Release and Training Certification

  • As a condition of entry on to the Hephzibah Property, I, the undersigned, agree to release, remise and forever discharge the Hephzibah Plant and all subsidiaries, the officers, directors and employees of each from and against any and all claims, causes of action or suits, that I may now or forever hereafter acquire as a result of personal injuries including death or property damage in any way arising in whole or in part from any physical conditions existing on property controlled by any such corporations on which I am given access.

  • As a further condition of entry to the above property, I agree that I will comply with all applicable health and safety regulations and directions given me by appropriate Hephzibah Plant personnel at any time during my visit to the Hephzibah facility.
