Generator Enclosure Visual Inspection

  • Free of debris, foreign objects, flora or fauna?

  • All fittings & connections tight?

  • Are all panels & guards secure, with no damage, no bolts or screws loose?

  • Is the paintwork in good condition, with no surface rust or paint bubbles?

  • Pumps, fans, pulleys, belts and hoses are in satisfactory condition?

  • Is the air filter clean and free of flora or fauna?

  • Exhaust and vent pipes in good condition & free of obstruction?

  • Evidence of damage to the transformer?

General Safety

  • Is there adequate ventilation & airflow around the generator cooling panels, exhaust ports and vents?

  • Egress paths from all accessible sides of the transformer safe, unobstructed?

  • Is there a clear >600mm access zone around the transformer (including distance of any open panels)?

Fuels, Oils & Fluids

  • Is the generator free from oil or fuel leaks?

  • Is there adequate fuel in the tanks?

  • Record the fuel level (%)

  • Is there adequate oil in the sump?

  • Record the oil level (%)

  • Is there adequate coolant in the tank?

  • Record the coolant level (%)

Misc

  • Is there sufficient lighting around generator control panel?

  • Are there any further issues with the board that need rectification (i.e. Lighting, ventilation, messy areas)?

Generator Assets - Electrical Inspection

  • Switchboard Volts:

  • Switchboard Bus Amp Rating:

  • Switchboard Fault Current Rating:

  • Changeover Switch - Make & Model

  • Changeover Switch - number of Poles:

  • Is the changeover switch labelled correctly?

  • Is the changeover switch auto or manual operation?

Electrical Safety

  • Sufficient labelling on generator & downstream boards (i.e. danger, electrical hazard, 415VAC, autostarting)?

  • Is the battery in good condition (fluid levels OK)?

  • Measure & record the battery voltage (VDC):

  • Are the battery terminals free of corrosion?

  • Is the battery charger fully functional (i.e. no faults or recorded issues)?

  • Is the earth cable securely connected?

  • Is the earth stake securely connected, and secure in the earth?

  • No access available to live components of any voltage?

  • Is there sufficient labelling warning of electrical risks? (i.e. "DANGER - 415 VOLTS AC")
