CQU Transformer Assets - Inspection

  • Is this a CQU Kiosk-style HV/LV Transformer Asset?

Transformer Safety

  • Insulation material (SF6, oil) levels OK?

  • Transformer free of oil leaks?

  • Are all panels secure, with no damage, no bolts or screws loose?

  • Is the paintwork in good condition, with no surface rust or paint bubbles?

  • Thermal-image the transformer. Is there evidence of major heat spots?

  • Evidence of damage to the transformer?

Electrical Safety

  • HV ONLY - Main earth cables minimum 35mm in diamater?

  • LV ONLY - Main earth cables minimum 25mm in diamater?

  • HV Protection hardware in good condition - no visible damage? (Visual check)

  • LV Protection hardware in good condition - no visible damage? (Visual check)

  • No access available to live components of any voltage?

  • Are all metallic parts and guard of the transformer bonded to earth?

  • Transformer and earthing corrosion free, rust free?

  • Is there sufficient labelling warning of electrical risks? (i.e. "DANGER - 415 VOLTS AC")

General Safety

  • Is there a clear >600mm access zone around the transformer (including distance of any open panels)?

  • As per AS/NZS 2067, there are minimum safety requirementsto ensure a safe area is maintained for both electrical operation & electrical workers.

  • Look for adequate clearance to walls, vents. Are the cooling fins clean of dust, dirt, flora or fauna?

  • Is there adequate ventilation & airflow around the generator cooling fins?

  • Egress paths from all accessible sides of the transformer safe, unobstructed?

Misc

  • Are there any further issues with the board that need rectification (i.e. Lighting, ventilation, messy areas)?

  • Is this a CQU Switchroom-located HV/LV Transformer Asset?
