Plans of electrical installations

  • Does the site have a plan of electrical installation?

  • Does the plan has a revision date and detail of person updating plan?

  • Is the a plan showing the location of underground cables?

  • Is the a site plan showing the location of overhead power lines in relation to traveling road ?

Access to HV Enclosures and Structures

  • Are the following electrical installations secured; control panels, Switch rooms, Switch yard, Substations etc ?<br>

  • Has site nominated authorized person(s) who can access electrical installations?

  • How are authorized person(s) aware that they are authorized and do they know their limitations?

  • Are all electricity generating plant and main substations adequately fenced?

  • Access (gates, and devices to prevent climbing) to high voltage areas is locked when no work is being performed.

Working on High Voltage

  • Only trained qualified HV electricians may gain access and work on HV equipment.

  • Has a permit to work been obtained prior to work on HV equipment?

  • Is a risk assessment conducted prior to commencement of work and is the condition of the poles mentioned?

Inspection and Maintenance

  • Does the site has an electrical maintenance system?

  • Does the system include maintenance and testing of warning devices and safety systems?

  • Does the site test the earth leakage?

  • Is there a plan for periodically testing the overload and short circuit protection at the site?
