Container/Trailer pre loading Check List.

  • Site safety, emergency and loading procedure explained to the driver on arrival?

  • Roller shutters are fully opened.

  • Visiting driver reverses into position using trained banksman on site?

  • Will the trailer/container be accompanied by a HGV Cab/tractor unit?

  • What have you placed under the 5th Wheel/Towing point to prevent tipping during loading ?

  • Once the container/trailer is reversed into position. Drivers keys are taken and placed in a safe/secure place. Driver is required to wait in their cab for the duration. Any need for the driver to be away from their vehicle, all activities are to stop until the driver returns.

  • One member of staff positions the ramp into place, 2nd member of staff acts as banksman

  • Make sure ramp is square onto container/trailer.

  • Before the ramp enters the container/trailer, (raise the ramp using the hydraulic pump). The ramp should be at raised to at least 50mm (5cm) above the vehicle bed before lowering.

  • When in position lower the ramp using the hydraulics via the lowering tap.

  • Hydraulic pump returned to home position to prevent injury from being walked into or damage if collided into by FLT.

  • Make sure ramp is hooked and secured on both sides and both are tight at suitable anchoring points within the trailer/container.

  • Unhook the front ramp flaps and gentle ease to floor.

  • Remember when walking up ramp stay in the middle

  • Chocks are in place on ramp and trailer.

  • When complete
