Action on site

  • Carries out checks to establish the number of customers being supplied and isolates ECV prior to <br>disconnection

  • Ensures the PE gas tapping is suitably exposed

  • Removes cap from tee and winds the cutter to the down position

  • Checks cutter seal by using SGN approved leak detection fluid

  • Drapes damp cloth over the section to be cut out ensuring that the ends of the cloth are in contact with <br>the ground

  • Cuts pipe and removes section of pipe, capping both ends of service pipe using electrofusion caps<br><br>

  • Raises cutter and replaces cap

  • Tests the cap of the top-tee and electrofusion cap end using SGN approved leak detection fluid <br>

  • Washes off leak detection fluid from all fittings using clean water

  • Disconnects / removes the existing standpipe, where possible and seals the standpipe entry

  • Question - What action should be taken if it is not possible to remove the standpipe?

  • Answer -The standpipe should be left in-situ and capped off and labelled to indicate service disconnected

  • Seals any abandoned service pipe ends in the ground using suitable caps

  • Checks properties to confirm that all supplies have been isolated
