Car Dumping

  • Did you complete a verification on Car Dumping activities?

  • Is the baghouse operating during train dumping operations? (exempt if an authorised bypass is active and has been recorded within the bridging and bypassing register)

  • No visible dust leaving the bag house stack? (watch for 1-3 minutes to observe a number of cleaning pulse cycles)

  • Is the collected dust directed into the agglomerator/blender? (Check the bypass valve is in the correct position)?

  • Is water being supplied to the agglomerator/blender? (check valves are in open position, manually test to confirm flow)

  • Is the car dumper cover on during dumping activites?

Baghouse / Dust Collector (crushing / screening)

  • Did you complete a verification on a screenhouse or crushing baghouse / dust collector?

  • Is the baghouse operating?

  • No visible dust leaving the bag house stack? (watch for 1-3 minutes to observe a number of cleaning pulse cycles)

  • Is the air compressor operational (check pressure gauge)?

  • Is the collected dust directed into the agglomerator/blender? (Check the bypass valve is in the correct position)?

  • Is water being supplied to the agglomerator/blender? (check valves are in open position, manually test to confirm flow)

  • Is the baghouse differential pressure reading between 0.5 and 2.0?

Stockyard

  • Did you complete a verification in the stockyard?

  • No visible dust leaving the stockyard area?

  • Are the cannons operating and rotating between stockpiles?

  • Is the water flow uninterrupted, pivoting and contacting the stockpiles?

  • Are the balanced machine (stacker / reclaimers) sprays in the automatic setting and operational? (ask OC operator to toggle to confirm operation if machine isn’t operating)

Conveyors

  • Did you complete a verification on conveyors?

  • Are all conveyor sprays are operational? (exempt if an out of service tag is present, legible, lists a notification number and within a reasonable time period <2weeks)

  • No build-up of dust beneath conveyors, pulleys or transfer chutes that is contacting or close to contacting the belt?

  • Are all conveyor sprays are operational and shrouds are in good condition? (ensure metal or rubber skirts are present)

  • Scrapers are adjusted correctly and are effective? (check that they are contacting the belt and return rollers and frames are free of build-up)

  • If a High Pressure Low Volume belt washer unit is installed (check if a yellow HPLV control box is present near the head pulley of transfer chute)

Bulking Activities

  • Did you complete a verification on bulking activities?

  • Visible dust is not leaving the work area from haulage or loading activities?

  • Is a water cart(s) supporting the bulking activity?

  • Fugitive dust is identified as a hazard in the JHA or takes 5?

  • Are dust controls identified in the JHA or take 5 implemented and effective?

Roads and Open Areas

  • Did you complete a verification on road and open areas?

  • Build-up of dirt on sealed roads is minimal and not creating a dust source?

  • Are open areas maintained to prevent build-up of bull dust?

  • Are water carts and street sweepers operating today?

  • Are all of the key components on a street sweeper or water cart operational? (check prestart book matches condition and functionality of key equipment - rear spray bar, front cannon, sweeper brush condition etc.)

Train Load Out

  • Did you compelte an inspection at the Train Load Out facility?

  • Are the train load out sprays operational?

  • No visible dust lift off is occuring from trains leaving site?

Actions and Signoff

  • Are there actions to be raised?
