Compressed Air Nozzles

  • Are nozzles labeled as OSHA compliant. (regulate air pressure to 30psi or less)

Compressed Gas Cylinder Storage

  • Are cylinders identified with a durable label that clearly identifies the cylinder contents and gives a brief description of the potential hazard?

  • Cylinders secured with chain, lab strap or hard stock device located on the upper one third of the cylinder

  • Nesting methods for storage are prohibited. Acceptable means of storage include individual chains or straps, holding racks, cylinder carts etc.

  • Flammable gasses shall be stored at least 20 feet from oxidizers and any other source of ignition or separated by an approved firewall

Fall Protection

  • Are fall protection devices in good condition?

  • Are step relief devices in place?

Ergonomics

  • Are tasks being performed with proper posture and body mechanics?

  • Are tools and work stations being used the best for proper body mechanics?

  • Are there any sharp edges at work stations that could cause nerve compression?

  • Are proper Lift techniques being used?

Ladders

  • Are ladders free frome any loose steps, loose fasteners, missing, bent or broken steps?

  • Are the bases/shoes in good condition

  • Are the identification tags present and in good condition?

  • Are extension ladders in good condition? (no loose rungs, no corrosion, pulley free from fraying, etc)

Ventiliation

  • Is proper ventilation being used in areas where chemical fumes are present?

  • Are chemical fume hoods on when needed and in good condition?

  • Are chemicals in fume hoods not stored in area for more than 1 day?

Housekeeping

  • Are areas free of trip hazards?

  • Are areas free of clutter?

  • Has equipment been returned to storage area after use?

Combustible Dust

  • Are your combustible dust systems active with no faults?

  • Are your quarterly inspections completed?

  • Is there residual dust on horizontal planes/surfaces greater than the thickness of a paper clip?

  • The process is free of any noticeable materials leaks.

Hand Tools and Equipment

  • Are all tools and equipment maintained in good condition?

  • Are safety glasses, face shields, or other appropriate protective equipment used while using<br>hand tools or equipment that might produce flying materials or be subject to breakage?

  • Are tools stored in dry, secure locations?
