GENERAL CONDITION

  • Are there any missing parts or loose parts ?

  • Are handgrips in place securely ?

PLUG (External) NEVER OPEN THE PLUG TO INSPECT

  • Is the casing of the plug cracked or damaged ?

  • Is the plug casing in good condition ?

  • Is the plug free from scorch marks ?

  • Is the cable fitted firm into the plug ?

  • Can you see any of the coloured conductor wires entering the plug ?

CABLE

  • Is the cable free from damage (no cuts, cracks, bare conductor wires, heat damage) ?

  • Is the cable free from other joints (there should only be plug and cable) ?

APPLIANCE

  • Is the structural condition of the equipment safe with no external damage ?

  • Is the piece of equipment free from signs of over heating ?

  • Is the cable running into the structure of the appliance firm and not loose ?

  • Is the cable running into the appliance free from visible coloured conductor wires ?

  • Are the switched and buttons in good condition ?

  • Is the appliance clean and free from dust build up ?

INSTALLATIONS

  • Are the structural condition of sockets, cable ducts, light fittings, switches and electrical boxes safe ?

  • Is there any loose or hanging cables ?

  • Are electrical boxes secure and safe ?

  • Is the electrical equipment free from other hazards - water, combustible material (paper, clothing etc), overloading, potential tripping hazards, potential for mechanical damage (lying across vehicle or pedestrian routes) ?

RCD'S

  • Press the test button, then reset. Do these work correctly ?
