Arrival on Site & Customer Interaction

Installation of Chargepoint

  • If it's a tethered unit, does the cable reach the vehicle's parked location without putting mechanical strain on the cable?

  • Does the chargepoint location qualify with the OZEV requirements regarding private parking?

  • Is the chargepoint installed within the height limitations of the Code of Practice: Electric Vehicle Charging?

  • Is the location of the chargepoint in the best possible place?

  • Is the chargepoint securely fixed?

  • Are the cable entries into the chargepoint protected from water entry and to the manufacturer spec?

  • Are the crimped ferrules tight and secure? (intrusive only)

  • Are the terminal blocks (60A) separate and securely screwed onto the ferrules? (intrusive only)

  • Are the connections made with ferrules where stranded cables are used?

  • Data cable/CT cable correctly terminated using ferrules where applicable? (intrusive only)

  • Are cables correctly identified/sleeved? (intrusive only)

Cable Installation

  • Is the route of the cable installed to BS7671 and cable size adequate for protective device and suitable for the chargepoint?

  • Is the cable routed in a way to avoid damage/external influences?

  • Is the cable route inside the customers property neat and tidy? (mini trunking, no damage etc...)

  • Has the PVC trunking been installed correctly? (if applicable)

  • Has the PVC trunking been permanently secured to the building/wall? (if applicable)

  • If using PVC T+E / Hi Tuff clipped direct- are the clips evenly spaced and secure along the cable route? (400mm between clips)

  • If using PVC T+E / Hi Tuff clipped direct- Is the entry point via a suitable sized cable gland and tightened to prevent movement? (25mm for 6mm T+E)

  • If using PVC T+E- is the CPC conductor sleeved correctly? (intrusive only)

  • If used (PVC T+E) Is an adaptable box securely fixed and IP rating maintained?

  • Junctions and connections via Red Wago where required? (intrusive only)

  • If using SWA, is the sheathing earthed adequately with banjo and fly lead? (intrusive only)

  • If using SWA, is the sheath insulated at the charger?

  • If using SWA, are the cable cores correctly identified (intrusive only)

Connecting at Consumer Unit

  • Has the EV circuit been clearly identified and labelled appropriately?

  • Have all additional consumer units been correctly labelled?

  • Has the correct rated and type of MCB been installed for the requirements of the chargepoint?

  • Has the chargepoint been protected by the correct type of RCD?

  • Does the make and model of MCB correlate with the existing MCB's in the consumer unit?

  • Are the connections tight and secure? (intrusive only)

  • Are the cable correctly identified? (intrusive only)

  • Rotary isolator installed where required?

  • Connections to sub main via approved methods

Quality of Work
