Phase One Activation - Priority Recall - Confirm that all of the following conditions are met in the event of the building fire system detecting fire.

  • Place lift on car top control: Does an audible signal sound on the car and in relevant machinery spaces immediately when phase 1 is initiated and the lift is under inspection operation, emergency electrical operation or any maintenance control. The audible signal shall be cancelled when the firefighters lift is removed from inspection operation, emergency electrical operation or any maintenance control and the firefighters lift shall automatically continue phase 1 operation;<br>

  • With lift parked at a landing, do the lift doors close and lift travel nonstop to the fire service access<br>level. An audible signal shall sound in the car until the doors are closed. At the latest when the<br>actual door dwell time exceeds 15 s, <br>

  • With the lift travelling away from the fire service access level does the lift make a normal stop and reverse its<br>direction at the nearest possible landing without opening the doors and return to the fire service access level.<br>

  • When lift arrives at FSAL, are all landing controls and the car controls in the firefighters lift rendered inoperative and all existing registered calls cancelled.<br>

  • Does the door remain open at the FSAL and emergency alarm buttons remain operative;

  • Is a visual fire signal shown in the car operating panel . The visual signal shall remain activated until the lift is restored to normal operation.<br>

  • With the lift travelling towards the fire service access level does the lift continue its travel non-stop to the fire service access level. If the lift has already started stopping at a level, it is acceptable to make a normal stop and without opening doors to continue to fire service access level;<br>

Phase Two Activation - Firefighter Switch Activation - Confirm that all of the following conditions are met when lift is operating under secondary power supply.

  • Does the lift respond to a single car call only. It shall not be possible to register more than one car call simultaneously.

  • Using constant pressure on a car call button do the car doors close.

  • Removing pressure on a car call button do the car doors reopen.

  • Using constant pressure on door close button do the car doors close.

  • Removing pressure on car door close button do the car doors reopen.

  • When lift arrives at a floor do the car doors remain closed until the door open button is pressed constantly.

  • When lift is at floor and the door open button is pressed and the doors start to open ,do the doors close when pressure is removed from the open door button.

  • Is the position of the lift car displayed at FSAL and within lift car.

  • Is it possible to register a new call from within the lift car and the previous car call cancelled.

  • Is there a secondary supply indicator at FAL

  • Does the secondary power run the firefighters lift at the rated load and rated speed for a period equal to the fire resistance structure. The car and well lighting shall be also supplied by secondary power supply.

  • Can the lift reach the highest landing served within 60 seconds

  • When the power supply is re-established does the lift become available for service within 1 min. If the lift needs to move to establish its position, does it move one floor towards the fire service access level and indicate its position.
