AC Power Test (Mains)

  • Using an AC circuit tester, test for proper phase and ground continuity on all circuits.

  • Reason:

  • Perform a 200 hour burn-in cycle on all rack mounted equipment.

  • Reason:

  • Start

  • Finish

  • Test the run time on all battery backup (UPS) units with all of the required components connected. Note actual run time before power failure.

Audio Test

  • All outboard equipment shall be set up, wired and tested according to the audio flow diagrams.

  • Reason:

  • Load project media, created per the final specification, in to all devices.

  • Reason:

  • Load DSP files, created per the final specification, in to all devices.

  • Reason:

  • Set all processors with external level controls to 0dBu @ 1k. No other audio or control connections should be attached to the processor at this time.

  • Reason:

  • Adjust amplifier dip switch settings to the appropriate voltage, resistance and mode.

  • Reason:

  • Using the Audio Precision APX515 signal generator and analyzer, sweep and record each line using tones ranging from 20Hz-20kHz, testing for proper level, phase, crosstalk, THD and noise.

  • Reason:

  • Adjust all DSP output levels to 0dBu.

  • Reason:

  • Download the project's DSP file and test for proper routing and functionality.

  • Reason:

  • Perform an audible test on each line and test for signal quality from the source equipment through to the amplifier output.

  • Reason:

Video Test

  • All outboard equipment shall be set up, wired and tested according to the video flow diagrams.

  • Reason:

  • Using generated color bars (from a CD, color bar generator, or generated from source equipment), visually check each line for clarity, from the source equipment, through to the monitor.

  • Reason:

  • Load project media, created per the final specification, in to all devices.

  • Reason:

  • Using media, created per the final spec, visually check each line for signal clarity, from the source equipment through to the monitor.

  • Reason:

Control & Performance Test

  • All outboard equipment shall be set up, wired and tested according to the control flow diagrams.

  • Reason:

  • Load a control program, created per the final specification, in to the control systems and touch screens. Check for proper continuity and routing functions to all devices.

  • Reason:

  • With the fire mute closure activated, check that all applicable equipment has been muted and emergency paging is routing correctly.

  • Reason:

Network Test

  • All equipment shall be set up, wired and tested according to the network flow diagrams.

  • Reason:

  • Using a cable tester, test all network cables for proper pinout, continuity, signal power and quality.

  • Reason:

  • Test communication and function to all devices with Ethernet and Cobranet connections.

  • Reason:

  • Assign the IP addresses, provided by the Client, to all networked equipment.

  • Reason:

  • Set up required VLANs on all network switches.

  • Reason:

Appearance

  • All wires are accurately labeled, with labels visible from the standing position, without having to twist the wires.

  • All equipment is accurately labeled, with device ID on both the front and rear.

  • Reason:

  • All amplifier channels are labeled per zone.

  • All AC plugs are properly labeled, with labels visible from the standing position, without having to twist the wires.

  • Reason:

  • All terminal and barrier strips are tightened down and the wires have been pulled for verification of the connection.

  • Reason:

  • Equipment racks are neatly dressed, with wire tray covers on.

  • Reason:

  • Rear doors (and front doors, where applicable) are placed on the equipment racks.

  • Reason:

  • SDB and SBB panels have been loaded with terminal blocks, labeled, repackaged and placed back on the job shelf.

  • Reason:

Documentation

  • Create a tab in the corresponding POM for the serial numbers and fill in completely.

  • Reason:

  • Hand over the fabrication as-built drawings to the Design Engineer for review and approval, then to the CAD department for revisions.

  • Reason:

  • Load the latest version of all audio and video media files and control programs on to a CD. Label the CD with file names, versions and date of transfer. Place the CD in the file folder on the rear door of the head-end rack.

  • Reason:

  • Print an 11x17 set of fabrication as-built drawings and place them in the file folder on the rear door of the head-end rack.

  • Reason:

  • Print two sets of field labels and place them in the file folder on the rear door of the head-end rack.

  • Reason:

  • Print the line reference spreadsheet and corresponding sweep documentation from the audio, video, control and network tests and place them in the file folder on the rear door of the head-end rack.

  • Reason:

  • Take digital photographs of the workmanship, connections, wire management, power distribution, labeling and elevations, front and back. Properly label the files according to the location in system, and store them in the project management folder under photos.

  • Reason:

  • Hand over FAT documentation to the Project Manager, and post to the project folder.

  • Reason:

  • Verify all final punch list items have been fixed and documented, then handed over to the Project Manager and Site Supervisor.

  • Reason:

  • The Project Manager and the Fabrication Manager shall provide to the Warehouse Manager a list and cost estimate of all equipment and parts that will ship to the job site.

  • Reason:

  • This checklist has been completed to the satisfaction of all parties. Any additional notes can be documented below.
