2. General Statement of Policy

  • Millers Vanguard recognises and accepts their responsibility as far as reasonably practicable in the requirement for fire safety in the workplace.

    To ensure the health safety & welfare at work of all employees, visitors and the general public.

    To meet its obligations in relation to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and / or all other relevant statutory requirements to ensure compliance with present and future health and safety regulations relevant to the undertakings of Millers Vanguard, e.g. the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1992.

    To provide such information, instruction, training and supervision as necessary to raise the awareness of fire safety to all its employees and visitors.

    To abide by all legal requirements as laid down by the Managing Director.

    To adhere to all relevant statutory fire regulations.

    To ensure that all employees are made aware of the types of fire fighting equipment and the correct procedure to follow in an emergency.

    To carry out a Fire Risk Assessment in order to identify any area that might prove hazardous and carry out corrective action where necessary.

    Relevant fire escape procedures and precautions will be brought to the attention of all employees and visitors whilst they are on our premises. Employees will be advised of the fire drill procedures, and the alarms will be regularly tested.

3. Management Systems

  • The fire safety policy is held on the ACTIV system, it confirms that a fire risk assessment will be completed to ensure adequate fire safety and will be reviewed as necessary.
    The fire risk assessment will follow the 5 step narrative method as advocated by the employers guide.
    The significant findings will be will be recorded with any deficiencies identified by the risk assessment process will be prioritised through discussion at the safety meeting and rectified accordingly.
    The Managing Director has overall responsible for fire safety maters.

    They will be responsible for:

    Deciding the fire safety protective and preventative measures.

    Informing other responsible persons what they are.

    Ensuring they co-ordinate between other responsible persons.

    Fire safety will be on the agenda item for all HSE meetings.
