Forklift Pre-Start Checklist (Daily)

  • Please complete this checklist before operating the forklift each day. If you find any hazard or tick ‘NO’ below, isolate (tag out) the forklift from use and report to your Manager.

    Report hazards, incidents and maintenance requests immediately to your Manager.

Forklift Checklist

  • Tyres – check for wear, splitting, tyre pressure

  • Body and guards – no damage

  • Mast, lifting assembly, attachments – no damage, working, fitted properly

  • Forklift tines, backrest – no damage, no cracks

  • Hydraulic hoses, unions, cylinders – no leaks

  • Underneath forklift – no leaks

  • LPG bottle – secure, no leaks

  • Seat – no damage, in good repair

  • Seatbelt – no damage, no fraying MUST BE WORN WHEN USING FORKLIFT

  • Start Forklift – started okay

  • Horn – working (beep horn)

  • Handbrake – working

  • Reversing – gear working and forklift beeping (place forklift into reverse)

  • Forward – gear working and forklift moving

  • Brakes – working order, stop easily

  • Steering – full range of movement, turn easily

  • Lights – all working

  • Instrument panel – all working, no warning signs

  • Other
