SERVICE CHECKS

  • Visually examine pumps for leaks.

  • Gland leakage rate is to be checked and particular attention paid to any signs of over heating or abnormal operating noises which should be reported immediately.

  • Where pump and gland lubricators are fitted, the manufacturers instructions with regard to operation of the lubricators and recharging with the correct lubricant is to be observed.

  • Gland nuts are to be screwed down just sufficient to prevent leakage.

  • Where Vee-belt drives are fitted, they are to be inspected to ensure that the belt tensions are correct and that no signs of misalignment or belt fraying are apparent. Where necessary if a new belt is required on a multi belt drive, all the belts on the drive are to be renewed with belts supplied as a matched set and manufacturers instructions regarding adjustments for the purpose of taking up initial stretch should be observed.

  • Protective guards, where fitted, are to be checked to ensure they are correctly positioned and secured.

  • Drip discharge pipes, where fitted, are to be cleaned and rodded through where necessary.

  • Where pump suction strainers are fitted these are to be cleaned and strainer elements and seals inspected for damage and wear.

  • Check electrical connections to pumps.

  • Change over duty pump ensuring valves on pumps are in correct settings.

  • Check system pressure and operation of differential pressure switches.
