3. Labels
-
Instruments fitted with permanent label identifying the instrument by instrument number. Where instruments are concealed in process piping or tanks, the label shall be mounted adjacent to the point at which the instrument cable or impulse line emerges to general view.

4. Mounting Position
-
Removal of sensors and instruments shall be by the use of standard hand tools. Instruments shall not be mounted directly into, or supported by, the process tapping point or to valves attached directly to the process piping except where the device can only operate when installed in this manner. Sensors and instruments mounted at 1500mm +/- 300mm above FL except sensors attached directly to machinery. Indicators and indicating transmitters located within 0.5m of a walkway regardless of lighting conditions.

5. Pre-connected Cables
-
Pre-connected cables or tails shall be terminated into a small junction box adjacent to the device. Connections within the junction box shall be by rail mount, tunnel type screw clamp terminals.

6. Earthing
-
Instruments with electronic circuits shall be separately bonded to earth to prevent damage. Connection to the cable ladder supporting the instrument cable by an equipotential bonding conductor is acceptable. In-line instruments shall be bonded to earth by a separate equipotential bonding conductor as gaskets may isolate the device from the pipe work. The screen or drain wire of instrument cables shall not be used to earth instruments.

7. Capillary Tubing

Capillary tubing for filled system instruments shall be supported and protected by installing the tubing in either angle iron, channel iron or steel conduit tubing.
