3. Enclosure Built Fit for Purpose

  • All enclosures shall have generous dimensions to accommodate all electrical and control equipment without overcrowding and to minimise excessive heat buildup within the enclosure. Marshalling boxes shall have 20% spare space and terminals.

  • Constructed from grade 316 stainless steel

5. 22.5° Roof Pitch

  • The roof shall overhang the front of the enclosure by at least 50mm.

7. Bottom Entry Gland Plate

  • All enclosures shall be fitted with removable 6mm thick brass bottom entry gland plates, suitable for removal of the entire gland plate with cables still attached. Gland plates shall have a minimum 20% spare capacity. Gland plates shall be bolted to the enclosure and fitted with a suitable gasket to maintain the IP rating. It shall be solidly bonded to the enclosure earth bar via a suitable flexible braided earth conductor and purpose stud mounted on the gland plate.

8. Floor Mounted Enclosures

  • Floor mounted enclosures shall be fitted with a 100mm hot dip galvanised plinth.

9. Doors

  • Double return edges and be able to open to angle of 135°. T-type handles shall be provided, except where low voltage equipment is located within the enclosure and the door locks then requiring a special tool to be opened. A double return shall be provided on the body of the enclosure.

10. Door Stay

  • To ensure that the doors open to the required angle and retain them in the open position.

11. Doors Earthed

  • The hinged door shall be connected to the earth bar via a suitable flexible earth conductor.

12. Document Pocket

  • All panels shall have a document pocket inside the door. Document holders shall be welded channel suitable to accept A4 documents.

13. Door Stiffening

  • Doors shall be suitably stiffened to prevent distortion. In any case, no door shall be more than 850mm wide.

14. Hinges x 2

  • Enclosures with doors <900mm high shall incorporate a minimum of two hinges. Hinges shall be chrome plated with stainless steel pins, and one pin longer than the others.

  • Enclosures with doors >900mm high shall have a minimum of three hinges and shall be suitably stiffened.

17. 8mm Square Locks

  • Individual 8ram square key door locks shall be fitted to all field mounted electrical enclosures. Three point door locking mechanisms are not acceptable.

18. HD Neoprene Gasket Seal

  • Seals shall be glued and held in place by continuous retaining strips.

20. Gear Tray

  • All internally mounted equipment such as relays, remote I/O, etc shall be mounted on the equipment gear plate only. Side mounting of equipment is not acceptable.

21. Segregation

  • Terminal strips and ducting segregated by voltage: 240Vac power wiring (shroud and warning label), 4-20mA analogue signals (IS signals in separate enclosure in field), 24Vdc digital signsls (IS signals in separate enclosure in field), instrument or control system communications. All voltages above extra low voltage shall be suitably shrouded with minimum IP2XB.

22. Intrinsically Safe

  • Intrinsically safe circuits and hazardous area enclosures shall be designed and installed in accordance with requirements of AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 60079.

23. Terminals

  • 35mm DIN rail mounted, screw type terminals. Minimum terminal size 2.5mm2 wiring, power terminals sized for application. Terminate all cores with 20% spare. Standard stoppers, dividers, barriers tier labels and bridging links to IP2XB.

24. Internal Wiring

  • Terminals mounted vertically, split PVC ducts on either side. There shall be adequate clearance to read wire numbers in full and readily insert and extract wires. (Min 50mm), Use labeled shrouds on all above ELV.
