Pre- Arrival

 • Ramp team conducts pre-arrival safety briefing

 • Ramp team wearing safety vest?

 • Ramp team wearing hearing protection
• Operational safety zone (OSZ) clear before aircraft arrival?

 • Pre arrival FOD walk performed?

 • Jet bridge stowed properly (Designated spot/ fully retracted)

 • Ground support equipment serviceable and staged for arrival

 • Ground power cord stored properly when not in use

 • Wheel chocks used to delineate stop mark?

Arrival

Arrival

 • Marshaller in position for arrival (maintains contact with flight crew and wing walkers)

 • Marshaller utilizes proper hand signals

 • Marshaller utilizes self parking system and stands by emergency shut off

 • Marshaller uses safety wands for arrival ( lighted wands 30 minutes before sunset - 30 minutes after sunrise or when visibility is restricted due to weather conditions)

 • Wing-walker(s) in position to receive aircraft ( maintains visible contact with Marshaller and in position to observe any threats)
As applicable- Some international locations do not utilize wing walkers due to airport restrictions

 • Wing walker uses appropriate hand signals (clear or stop)

 • Wing walker uses appropriate wands for arrival ( lighted wands 30 minutes before sunset - 30 minutes after sunrise or anytime visibility is restricted due to weather conditions)

 • Aircraft parked correctly on designated stop mark

 • No GSE operated in OSZ during aircraft arrival process

Securing Aircraft

Securing Aircraft

 • Personnel does not approach aircraft until safe to approach signal has been given by Marshaller

 • Nose landing gear (NLG) is properly chocked when aircraft comes to a complete stop on the designated line ( chocks should be touching the aircraft wheel, if new UA chocks are used "UNITED" should be visible

 • Aircraft is properly chocked ( NLG and two main gear, when high winds are predicted or present (above 25 knots) all landing gear will be chocked fwd and aft)

 • Crews properly positioned wing tip markers at the aircraft (scimitar wing tips utilize a triangle design for wing tip markers)

 • Marshaller / designee gave Jet bridge operator clear to approach signal

 • Crew performed an arrival walk around of the aircraft ( walk around must be completed within 15 minutes after aircraft blocking in) RSM chapter 5

 • Servicing equipment does not enter OSZ until aircraft has been chocked and clear to approach signal has been given

 • Safety guidelines for external ground power utilized (RSM chapter 5 )

 • Safety guidelines followed for conditioned air usage (RSM chapter 5)

Connecting/ dis-connecting Ground Power

 • Jet bridge mounted ground power cable is lowered all of the way to the ground

 • Jet bridge mounted ground power cable if detached from ground power cable/hoist the harness must be safely stowed

 • Tow around units positioned outside OSZ for aircraft arrival

 • For GPU units - no three point connections

 • For GPU the orange sock is placed over the tow tongue when cable is in use

 • For GPU cable is removed from the aircraft and stowed before tow tractor is connected to the unit

 • When power cord is attached to the aircraft a relief strap or brackets must be used to support the power cord
