  • Are sufficient electrical sockets provided to prevent overloading?

  • Where extension cables / adaptors are used, is the use of 'doubling up' avoided?

  • Are all extension cables fused?

  • If drum cable extensions are used are they fully unwound?

  • Is the kitchen area kept clean and tidy?

  • Is the area free of any rubbish?

  • Is all crockery and cutlery returned after use?

Shopfloor

Work Equipment:

  • Is work equipment in good condition and suitable for the task?

  • Is lifting equipment inspected under LOLER every 12 months?

COSHH

  • Is there suitable storage provided for all hazardous substances and is it used efficiently?

  • Are all chemical products stored in suitable containers, labelled and used appropriately? ie corrosive, irritant, flammable?

  • Are spill kits in place and stocked?

Electricity

  • Are cables maintained in a safe condition? E.g., no cuts or frayed wires showing, not strained.

  • Are sufficient electrical sockets provided to prevent overloading?

  • Are all extension cables fused?

  • Where extension cables / adaptors are used, is the use of 'doubling up' avoided?

  • If drum cable extensions are used are they fully unwound?

Fire Precautions

  • Are fire extiguishers, hose reels and fire blankets checked annually and labelled?

  • Are fire extinguishers easily accessible with signs next to them to show types and use?

  • Are fire doors labelled, maintained and kept closed or have suitable closing mechanisms in place?

  • Are stairways, corridors, and fire escapes free from obstruction?

Accidents:

  • Are there adequate amounts of first aid kits on site?

  • Are the first aid kits sealed and in date?

  • Are Accidents, Incidents, Hazards, and Near Misses being reported and recorded?

  • Have investigations taken place where necessary following an accident / incident?

Yard & Van

Yard Safety

  • Is all waste safely stored?

  • Is outside lighting adequate during dark hours?

  • Is CCTV operational?

Van Inspection

  • Is the vehicle clean and tidy inside and out?

  • Is the vehicle free of any visible damage?

  • Is the vehicle free of any signs of fluid leak?

  • Are all tyres properly inflated?

  • Is tire tread depth and wearing acceptable?

  • Are wiper blades adequate?

  • Are ALL lights working?

  • Are indicators working?

  • Is the horn working?

  • Is the parking brake working?

  • Are all mirrors visible?

  • Is the engine oil within range?

  • Is the wiper fluid within range?

  • Is the power steering fluid within range?

  • Is the coolant within range?

  • Are all seat belts working?

  • Is the vehicle clear of any warning lights displayed on the dashboard?
