General Safety

Fire Prevention & Protection

  • Fuel stored in proper containers

  • Hot Work Permits posted near areas where hot work is being performed

  • Fire Extinguishers located throughout areas of work, and freely accessible?

  • Fire Extinguishers located within reach where any hot-work is being performed?

  • Fire Extinguishers fully charged, and recently certified and tagged under new FDNY 901.6.3.1?

  • Aerosols/Cylinders/Fuel/Ammunition properly stored as per NYC Fire Code?

  • Area around Temp Heaters or similar equipment clear?

Electrical

  • Adequate lighting (meets OSHA standards, at a minimum)

Ladders & Scaffold

  • Ladders extended 3ft above all landings?

  • Ladders used correctly (not standing on top rung, leaning against walls, etc)?

  • Extension Ladders - All ropes, pulley, etc in good condition?

  • Scaffold installed correctly on solid, level ground and properly tagged

  • Planking adequate, with proper material used

  • Are required guardrails in place

  • Adequate access/egress provided?

  • Fall Protection in use for all Aerial Lifts?

Stairways (Permanent or Temporary)

  • Stairs free and clear of debris

  • Handrail/Guardrail/toe boards in place
