Test Procedure

Confirm Project Information

  • Pipeline/s to be Tested

  • Pipeline Details

  • Testing Specification Requirements

Initial Work Area Inspection

  • Is test area barricaded off or sufficiently delineated?

  • Is traffic control established?

  • Completed Safe Work Method Statement and followed all control measures

  • Inform direct Supervisor to clear all personnel and pedestrians from pipeline under test and move to a safe distance

  • Environmental controls installed as and if required

Inspection Steps

  • Equipment checked and in good working order

  • Describe Faults

  • Gauge Numbers Used

  • Calculate volume of water to be added to pipeline. If water is to be supplied by water cart, inform direct Supervisor of quantity required

  • Use closest existing water hydrant and securely connect relevant standpipe

  • Connect pipeline and existing hydrant to water pump

  • Pressurise pipeline to pressure as nominated by the relevant Specification

  • Visually inspect pipeline for signs of leak, via water rising to the surface or ground movement caused by thrust block displacement

  • Add water to pipeline in accordance with the Specifications to maintain test pressure

  • Hold test pressure for time and add water as nominated in Specification and record result

Disassemble Steps

  • Close valve to pipeline under pressure and disconnect pump

  • Release and disuse water as directed by direct Supervisor onsite

  • Unscrew standpipes and return to vehicle

  • All barricading and delineation material removed

  • All environmental controls removed

Final Demobilisation

  • Notify Client of result

  • Notify Client to contact Test & Poly office to arrange further testing or for Test Certificates

  • Final sweep of work area and return all equipment to vehicle

  • Inspector's Remarks

  • Add photo of site prior to leaving

  • Add mud map if no drawings provided

  • I declare that the above inspection procedure was followed in accordance with the above procedure and nominated Specifications. The designed pressure was adhered to for the pipelines inspected including diameter, length and pipeline type.

  • Inspection Completed
