General Safety Inspection

First Aid

  • Is the first aid kit available and fully stocked? (Requires a physical check of contents)

  • Is there a sign on the wall to indicate the location of the first aid kit that is clearly visible? (mark as 'N/a' if the first aid kit is in a visible location and the location is obvious for all to see)

  • Is there signage or a poster clearly visible to indicate that there is a defibrillator available at the adjacent business (Kone Ltd)?

Racking, Shelving & Storage Cabinets

  • Is all of the racking, shelving or cabinets securely fastened to the wall (or another stable structure) to ensure that there is no risk of it detaching or toppling over?

  • Are shelves and racks properly organized to prevent products from falling onto the floor? (open each cabinet door and check incl. kitchen cabinets)

  • Are the tops of cabinets organised well so that nothing is likely to fall off the top? (Check the steel cabinets by the toilets entry)

Slips, Trips or Falls

  • Are all walkways and aisles free from clutter, including products, boxes, power cords and debris? (Including checking under desks; check the corridor near the toilets/cleaner's cupboard, check the outdoor area).

  • Are all floor surfaces clean, dry, and free of spills, especially in high-traffic areas?

  • Are warning signs or barriers in place (or available for use) where wet floors or potential hazards exist?

  • Are handrails provided on all stairwells still in good condition?

  • Is there adequate lighting in all areas, including storage rooms and stairways? (Check for any blown bulbs and the general level of lighting)

Manual Handling

  • Are heavier boxes stored at an appropriate height to minimise the need for bending or overreaching? (ideally between knee-to-shoulder height).

  • Are storage areas organised well and kept sufficiently clear to prevent awkward lifting or carrying of boxes? (Lifting should not involve lifting sideways, or overreaching; Check storerooms).

  • Has the manual handling toolbox talk been completed by workers within the past 12-months?

Sign-off

  • Signature of person completing the Inspection.
