Compound Access and Signage

  • Is the access to the main compound locked to prevent unauthorised access?

  • Are there appropriate signs in relation to compound access and authorised persons only?

  • Are there any redundant or obstructed warning signs?

Emergency Procedures

  • Is there suitable instructions on the action to take in the event of an emergency?

  • Is fire fighting equipment in date (colour tagged), in the correct location and securely fixed?

  • Are there any areas that present a fire risk due to poor housekeeping / storage?

  • Are spill kits fully stocked, secured, signed and contents in date?

  • Did you collect and take the eye wash bottle with you during the inspection?

Containers

  • Are signs in place identifying the hazards held within the containers?

  • Are materials / substances stored in the appropriate container in line with the signage on the outside and the Hazardous Substance Register?

  • Is there evidence of the containers / bunds leaking?

  • Is there a need to have water removed from the bunds? If yes which containers.

  • If required has the appropriate PPE (as identified in the risk assessment) been issued and worn?

  • Are shelves and racking in good condition and secure?

  • Are the substances suitably stored and the appropriate levels of chemicals held?
