  • Are motors on equipment being refueled shut off?

  • Is smoking prohibited in the vicinity of fueling operations?

  • Are materials, stored inside buildings under construction, placed more than 6 feet any side or opening, or more than 10 feet from exterior walls do not extend above the top of the material stored?

  • Are coworkers using gloves when handling material?

  • Is rigging equipment inspected each shift prior to use, and removed from immediate working area when not in use?

Electrical

  • Are GFCIs in use?

  • Are ground fault circuit interrupters installed on each temporary 15 or 20 amp 120 V AC circuits at locations where construction, demolition, modification, alterations or excavations are being performed?

  • Is temporary lighting used and proper?

  • Are lock Out / Tag Out procedures in place and used?

  • Are vehicles accessing the site safely?

  • Are all deliveries occurring during prescribed times?

  • Are all rebar and pipe or other impalement hazards capped or protected?

Welding and Cutting

  • Are all welders wearing proper welding PPE?

  • Are cylinder valves closed when empty or when work is finished?

  • Are unused cylinders secured in an upright position when not in use?

  • Are all torches inspected at the beginning of each shift?

  • Are welding cables inspected at the beginning of each shift?

  • Are welding cables free from damage, repair, and splices for a minimum distance of 10 feet, from the cable end to which the electrode is connected? ( except that cables with standard insulated connectors or with splices whose insulating quality is equal to that of the cable are permitted.) 29 CFR 1926.351 (b) (2)

  • Are flame arrestors used on hookups?

  • Is there a fire watch assigned for welding or cutting when a serious fire might develop?

  • Are noncombustible or flameproof screen used for shielding other coworkers, working in the direct vicinity, from the direct rays of the arc?

Silica
