Communal Areas

  • H&S checks are due in all self-contained units which share communal areas including shared stairways, landing, outside etc.

    In shared accommodation, H&S checks are due to be carried out on all shared areas including kitchen, lounge, bathrooms, communal hallways, shared staircases, landings, outside spaces, etc.

    The H&S checks should be scheduled each week in communal areas of self-contained accommodation.

  • All taps that are not used at least once every week needs to be subject to the following checks. This excludes voids, but special attention must be paid to Guest rooms.

  • All communal sinks and bath taps to run through for 2 minutes.

  • Kitchen taps to run through for 2 minutes.

  • Shower heads to be removed and water run through hose for 2 minutes.

  • External taps needs to be run through for 2 minutes.

  • Check LED light is illuminated on each emergency lighting unit.

  • General Housekeeping: No combustibles stored in escape routes.

  • Ensure that there are no hazards that could lead to slips, trips, or falls.

  • Ensure hazardous cleaning materials are locked away.

  • Check condition of the lift.
