Safety Essential Verification - Working in and Around Mobile Plant

  • Take a photo of the area being inspected.

  • What type of plant is operating in the area we are inspecting?

  • Ask the workers what the hazards are with this plant operating in the area? i.e. - Operating to close to workers, no protection, open edges, fall from levels, uneven ground, blind spots?

  • What issues / problems do the workers have with the plant operating in the area?

  • Has the task scheduling within the construction program ensured that mobile plant and equipment operation does not require any workers, light vehicles or other mobile plant or equipment to be working within any POZ.

  • What is being used to separate Mobile Plant from workers

  • Is the mobile plant or equipment temporarily halted prior to a worker entering the POZ.

  • Is the work group aware of hazards which can increase risk around mobile plant such as:-

  • Is a reliable means of communication in place

  • What is the fall back method the work crew will adopt if communication is lost?

  • If a Concrete Agitator is on site are the following controls being implemented:-

  • Are workers are aware of the requirements to enter a POZ, such as all mobile plant or equipment in the work area must be temporarily halted?

  • Any improvements identified upon interaction with work group including over and above (or innovative) examples of risk treatment:
