Blending Factor Information

BLENDING FACTORS (BF)

BF= Risk, DOH, Blending required, blend with

BF1 = rock breaking (RB), >1530, opportune, any number
BF2 = RB, >1530, opportune, any number
BF3 = Low, >1530, no, any number
BF4 = Low, >1530, no, 1-3 or 5-7 with increasing risk
BF5 = increasing, >1530, yes(minor), 1-4
BF6 = medium, 1300/1500, yes (TBA), 1-4 or 5 with monitoring
BF7 = high, 1000/1300, yes (TBA), 1-4 monitoring required
BF8 = Extreme, 0/1000, yes, 1-4 constant monitoring required

General BF rules
BF1 = Excessive oversize in face
BF2 = Oversize expected in most trucks
BF3 = Occasional oversize
BF4 = Mainly N2U or N2L with minor WAS contact or minor NE1 (standard style ore)
BF5 = N2U with poddy clays or <1m of overlying WAM/WAS. N2L and NE1 including NS3. Any other faces that look problematic – GOL or Al contamiants, expected to be single source able for a short period
BF6 = WAS+WAM > 1m, Increased poddy clays or detritals. Excessive NE1 with increased GOL
BF7 = Where level 6 has failed or is expected to fail- stricter blending possibly greater than 1:1 required. WAS+WAM > 1m, Increased poddy clays or detritals. Excessive NE1 with increased to standard GOL
BF8 = Strict blending 1:2 or greater - stockpile as necessary - recommend DS only where possible to allow max oversight.

COMMON ABBREVIATIONS

Hyd – Hydrated material – generally rocky lump grades ok, fines bad, often lower AL (but varies) higher Si as a general rule
WAS or just ANG – West Angela Shale – shale on top of ore body, un-mineralised high alumina
WAM – West Angela Shale Mineralised – the same as WAS but hydrated and mineralised, sometimes fed as HG but often LGA – lump good fines poor
NEW – Newman formation – the stuff we mine
NE2 – Newman 2 – Upper part of ore body, contains N2U and N2L – from top of shale 4 to ANG contact
NE1- Newman 1 – Bottom part of ore body from top of MAC contact to top of shale 4, contains shale 3, an often problematic shale – also has bif contact in this zone
N2U – Newman 2 Upper (top part of NE2) Upper part of ore zone, generally the most rocky material,
contains Newman member from shale 6 to WAS contact
N2L – Newman 2 (lower (lower part of NE2) bottom part of NE2, from top of shale 4 to top of shale 6
NS 1 to 8 – Newman shale 1-8 Newman shales
MAC – Mac Leod Member, formation the Newman conformably sits upon – generally we don’t mine this far down due to lack of mineralisation.

DET – Detritals
CAL – Calcrete
CLY – Clay
BIF – Banded Iron Formation
BPO – Bif powdery
Cht – Chert
QTZ – quartz
QZF – quartz fine
SHL, SHA – shale (chemical differences)
SHF – shale ferruginous
SHN – shale with manganese
M2F – Martite fine
MGU – Martite goethite ultra fine
MGF – Martite goethite fine
MGM - Martite goethite medium
MGH – Martite goethite hard
PIW- pisolite waste
PIS – pisolites
GOV – vitreous goethte
GOL- Ocherous goethite
SHG – shale goethite
CAV – cavity and cavity fill
