Drill evaluation

  • A call is received by the Officer of the watch that there is a bomb onboard

  • Did the officer found out as much as possible about the bomb from the caller? Ie details of location, circumstances

  • Has the officer noted the time and location of the call as well as number?

  • Were did the caller say the bomb is?

  • Did the Officer inform immediately the senior officer/captain of the threat?

  • Did the officer ring the alarm?

  • Were coastguards, local authorities and/or navy immediately contacted?

  • Did everyone joined their station bills and/or muster?

  • Was a headcount conducted?

  • Did the captain order immediate evacuation of all passengers and non-essential crew?

  • Were all important documents collected and grabbed? Guests and crew ID documents, cash, important ship documents, etc.

  • Once evacuation was completed, was a search conducted?

  • Was the search conducted three times? IE going over the same places but once at ground level, once at waist level and once at head level?

  • Was the bomb or a suspicious package found?

  • Was the bomb or suspicious package touched by anyone?

  • If found, were the authorities notified immediately?

  • What did the authorities advise?

  • Were the procedures for abandoning ship followed?

  • As you were advised to wait, was the area around the bomb cleared?

  • Did everyone stayed away from the area?

  • Did the officers and/or captain kept in constant communication with the authorities and updated them?

  • Was the crisis team notified?

  • Was the emergency plan for bomb threat followed?

  • Is the emergency plan for bomb threat printed and easily accessible?
