Drill evaluation

  • A detailed briefing for Crew should be prepared covering all aspects of dealing with a spill/pollution. The drill is to familiarize all crew members with their stations, tasks and use of oil pollution emergency
    equipment in effective, logical, safe and timely manner. Drills should be conducted to simulate a leakage or spillage of a dangerous or hazardous substance.

  • Did the first crew member to see the oil spill call out “Oil spill Oil Spill” or alternative to raise the alarm?

  • Did this crew member identifying which side and location on the vessel the spill was?

  • Did this crew member immediately advise the OOW and Chief engineer?

  • Did the officer ring the alarm?
