  • Fire Warden list is up to date

  • Fire precaution log book RP219 have been fully completed and signed by the store manager . Fire alarm checks have been carried out weekly and evacuation drills are up to date , ( Two day evacuations and Two night evacuation within the last 12 months )

  • Electrical plant rooms are clean tidy and free from storage . ( this includes any substances for example cleaning products )

  • Fire exits are free from obstruction internally and external land can be opened .

  • All fire doors are closed and not propped open , any door held open by door guards or magnetic discs ( Which release the doors when the fire alarm sounds ) must not have any items which would prevent the door from closing fully . Edges of fire doors are checked for groves and any present are reported to the store technician for repair .

  • External routes to assembly points are unobstructed . During the quarter this must be walked once in daylight hours and once during darkness to ensure all evacuation routes are lit .

  • All walkways and fire doors through the warehouse and corridors to fire exits are unobstructed to the width of the fire exit they lead to .

  • Stock is stored 50cm from fire detectors and at least 50 cm below sprinkler heads .

  • Fire extinguishers are present on hooks or in boxes can be reached easily with nothing in front of them .

  • Combustible materials ( cardboard ,plastic trays , bread trays , pallets etc .) in the service yard are stored as far away from the building walls and canopies as possible ( unless the canopy is fitted with sprinklers ) .

  • The stores fire risk assessment has been reviewed and next steps / significant findings have been completed or are in the process of being completed in a timely way .

  • Staircases are free of all storage on or below them .

  • Rear delivery and backyard areas are secure from unauthorised access .

  • Cow sheds not protected with sprinklers have no highly combustible materials ( for example roll cages with packaging toilet rolls , barbecue lighter fluids etc.
