  • Any H&S actions identified shall be entered onto Audit/Inspection Action Log and brought to the urgent attention of the appropriate personnel as soon as possible. Contractor/Project Manager to be notified of actions required/taken.

  • S = Satisfactory, U = Unsatisfactory, O = Observation, NA = Not Applicable

  • Is there a register of all hazardous substances in use on the project?

  • How is this register managed and new items added to it?

  • Have substances generated by activities been considered and included? E.g. weld fumes.

  • Have Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) been provided by suppliers for all of the items?

  • Have COSHH assessments specific to the method of use been carried out? Are these up to date and relevant?

  • How are the findings of the COSHH assessments and any associated controls communicated to the workforce?

  • Is there a system which manages the issuing of hazardous substances to the workforce?

  • Has anyone been appointed to manage all elements of the use of hazardous substances on the project?

  • How is the use of hazardous substances by subcontractors monitored and controlled?

  • Could the use of any hazardous substances be avoided or the method of use altered to reduce exposure.

  • Are those using hazardous substances wearing the correct PPE as identified by the assessment?

  • Is adequate ventilation available for those using hazardous substances?

  • Are hazardous substances stored in a safe place and segregated where necessary?

  • Is there a system in place to deal with any spillage, fire, or contact with substances used on site?

  • Are first aid and emergency arrangements in place to deal with adverse reaction, splash or ingestion of any hazardous substance?
