Project Health and Safety Inspection Checklist

To be completed by Project Supervisor or Nominated person weekly from the start of construction work on site. Completed forms are to be kept readily available (preferably on site) for the duration of construction works, after which time shall form part of the CDM Health & Safety file.

Any H&S actions identified shall be entered onto Audit/Inspection Action Log and brought to the urgent attention of the appropriate personnel as soon as possible. Contractor/Project Manager to be notified of actions required/taken.

S = Satisfactory, U = Unsatisfactory, O = Observation, NA = Not Applicable

Can everyone reach their place of work safely, e.g. are roads, gangways, passageways, staircases, ladders and scaffolds in good condition?

Are there guard rails or equivalent protection to stop falls from open edges on scaffolds, mobile elevating work platforms, buildings, gangways, excavations etc?

Are holes and openings securely guarded or provided with an equivalent standard of edge protection. Or provided with fixed, clearly marked covers to prevent falls?

Are structures stable, adequately braced and not overloaded?

Are all working areas and walkways level and free from obstructions such as stored material and waste?

Is the site tidy and are materials stored safely?

Are there proper arrangements for collecting and disposing of waste materials?

Is the work area adequately lit? Is sufficient additional lighting provided when work is carried on after dark or inside buildings?

Is the access and egress to and from the work area adequately lit and is there a back up in case of failure?

Are separate routes for pedestrians and vehicles provided and maintained?

Are vehicular routes signed and speed limits posted?

Have all buried services been identified and are they still clearly marked?

Are any overhead services adequately protected?

Are all safety signs clearly displayed?
