  • Any H&S actions identified shall be entered onto Audit/Inspection Action Log and brought to the urgent attention of the appropriate personnel as soon as possible. Contractor/Project Manager to be notified of actions required/taken.

  • Will the work affect any trees with a Tree Preservation Order (TPO)? If yes, is work beneath the canopy spread of a tree protected by a TPO being carried out in accordance with the Local Planning Authority's Regulations?

  • Is hedge bank material or subsoil stored separately from top soil and sign posted?

  • Are trees and exposed hedgerows protected by appropriate fencing?

  • Has a log been established to monitor the removal of mature trees?<br><br>NB a mature tree is defined by The Tree Council as a tree with a stem diameter of 75mm at 1.5 metres above the ground or a tree that has been coppiced and the number of shoots on the tree exceeds 10.

  • Have any damaged trees been pruned and sealed in accordance with approved practice?

  • Is the Contractor compliant with the conditions of any licence to handle or disturb protected species or their habitat (eg Badgers, Bats, Great Crested Newts, Dormice, Reptiles, Water Voles, White Clawed Crayfish, Birds (including special species)?

  • Are there any restrictions or requirements associated with working in or close to ecologically sensitive areas (eg European Sites, SSSI, RAMSAR, SPA, SAC, SINC)?If so, is the Main Works Contractor compliant with these? Assent conditions?

  • Hedgerows – if hedgerows require removal is has a Hedgerow Removal Notice been submitted and approval obtained from the LPA where applicable?

  • Nesting Birds – are there plans in place should nesting birds be found on site? Are site staff aware of them?

  • Invasive Species – have invasive species been identified on site/access routes? Is there an Invasive Species Management Plan – is it appropriate? Is the plan being implemented on site to prevent the spread of invasive species?

  • Replanting requirements – is any replanting required as per the contract? Have suitable maintenance plans been provided? Are species of local provenance and certified disease free?

  • Ash Trees – are measure in place to deal with infected ash trees? Is it in accordance with Government guidelines?
