Check List

  • What type of Liquid Meter?

  • Are meters being proved under similar operating conditions (rates, diesel, Varsal)

  • Equipment certification available? (Hydrometer & other proving equipment)

  • Is the Water Draw certification available? Ensure the certificate is within 5 years. If a truck is used, ensure it is the same prover that reflects the paperwork.

  • Was the block and bleed valve checked for leaks? IF the Block and Bleed valve is leaking, proving should be discontinued until the leak has been corrected.

  • Was the prover diverter checked for leakage?

  • Was fluid allowed to flow through the master meter until the flow and temperature are stabilized?

  • Was the API gravity and temperature of the flowing stream accurately taken and recorded?

  • Are the appropriate API Tables being used to determine API gravity corrected to 60 deg F.?

  • Is the flow rate representative for the meter? Must be within manufacturer's range. If proving rate is outside the manufacturer's guidelines or normal operating range, the proving should be discontinued until adjustments are made.

  • Did the master meter proof run result in 10000 pulses or readable increments for both the master meter and the line meter being proved (Example: 1 bbl of fluid through a 1.5" meter will result in a 13,860 pulses).

  • Was the temperature at both the meter and the meter prover, for each round trip properly recorded? Note: Where a temperature probe is not installed on the the production meter, it is acceptable to use the temperature from the prover.

  • Was the appropriate number of runs performed? ( A minimum of 6 runs required by BLM onshore order 4)

  • Was meter proving runs made until 5 consecutive runs were repeatable within the tolerances specified in BLM onshore order 4? (5 of 6 runs shall match within a tolerance of 0.0005 (.05%) between the highest and lowest readings)

  • Was the arithmetic average of these 5 consecutive runs used for computation of the meter factor?

  • Does the meter factor exceed +/- 0.0025 since the last proving of the meter unless explained by changing conditions? (i.e. temperature, gravity or flow rate)

  • Was the DP Calibrated
