  • Is there evidence to show that circuit parameters e.g. resistance and capacitance satisfy manufacturers recommendations?

VISUAL AND AUDIBLE ALARMS

  • Are there are at least two sounder circuits? (Unless loop based sounders are used)

  • Is this satisfactory evidence that sound levels have been measured and found to be sufficient?

  • Is the sound level likely to interfere with the summoning of the Fire Brigade? (E.g. reception phone near sounder)

  • Does the sound pattern and frequency comply with the installation rules? (e.g. Bells not mixed with sounders)

  • Is there a need for visual\vibrating alarms in areas which these are not present?

DETECTORS

  • Are the types of detector used appropriate?

  • Is detector siting and spacing appropriate?

MANUAL CALL POINTS

  • Are call point locations and sitings appropriate?

  • Are call points mounted at the appropriate height?

ZONING

  • Is the area per zone within the limits specified in BS5839?

  • Is the search distance within the limits specified in BS5839?

  • Are remote indicator lamps provided where required by BS5839?

  • Are zone boundaries appropriate for the fire compartments?

REMOTE TRANSMISSION OF ALARMS

  • Is there a method for remote transmission of alarms?

  • Is the enclosure the correct type?

  • What is the signal strength of the Dualcoms GPRS?

  • Does the signalling system provide the appropriate signals (e.g. Pin 1 fire \ Pin 2 fault) back to the ARC?

  • Is the wiring of a satisfactory type?

ANCILLIARY SERVICES

  • Are there any ancillary services\equipment interfaced with the fire alarm system?

  • Is the method of interfacing of a satisfactory type?

  • Is any power required from the fire alarm system within its limits?

  • Are ancillary circuits separately fused?

  • Are appropriate spares held on site? (E.g. Spare break glasses)

DOCUMENTATION
