Site General

  • Does the site appear in a generally acceptable condition (eg clear of uncontained rubbish / materials, clear access ways etc) ?

  • Is there a perimeter fence in place to deter unauthorised access ?

  • Is there site signage in place as required by legislation ?

  • Is there reasonable access to power, potable water and toilet facilities ?

  • Is there reasonable access to rubbish collection / disposal facility (eg cage / skip bin etc, being serviced as needed) ?

  • Have Trades complied with their "Housekeeping" obligations ? (Excess materials and rubbish removed, clear access ways etc)

Administration

  • Is there a Site Specific safety plan available ?

  • Have workers completed a Site Specific Induction (where required) and have GSI cards available for inspection ?

  • Is there a recent (within the last 12 months) SWMS for designated High Risk Construction Work, read, understood by all workers involved and complied with ?

  • Are SDS's readily available and understood, for any Hazardous Materials in use ?

  • Is there access to First Aid supplies and advice, suitable for the work being done and number of workers involved ?

  • Do workers appear to working in a safe manner ? Were tool box talks conducted ?

Personal Protective Equipment

  • Are workers using appropriate PPE for the risk(s) / work being done ?

  • Are workers wearing Hard Hats where there is a risk of being hit by falling materials / tools (eg under concrete booms) ?

  • Are workers wearing HiVis clothing (if required) and suitable foot ware ?

Excavations

  • Have excavations deeper than 1.5m been benched, battered or shored (barricaded / covered if left unattended) ?

  • Have pier holes, pits, steep and deep batters etc been barricaded if left unattended ?

  • Have vertical reinforcing rods, star pickets etc been protected (plastic caps or similar) ?

Working at height

  • Has a SWMS for work above 2m been prepared within the last 12 months, signed and understood by all workers and a copy been provided to the Principal Contractor ?

  • Is the SWMS readily available and being complied with ?

  • Are access ladders set up correctly (1:4 / clamped / extended 1m above landing etc) ?

  • Are voids and stairwells protected (eg proprietary void platforms / handrails etc) ?

  • Is roof edge protection in place where required and continuous ?

Scaffold

  • For scaffold 4m and above, is there a current "Handover Certificate" signed and dated within the last 30 days ?

  • Does the scaffold appear complete and unaltered ?

  • Are baseboards in place and suitable (set-up and material) - mobile scaffold wheels secure and chocked ?

  • Have toe boards been installed (especially scaffolds over 4m high) ?

Ladders

  • Do ladders appear to be in a good, undamaged condition ?

  • Are ladders set up correctly (1:4 / secured from slipping etc) and Industrial / Commercial, with a minimum 120kg load rating ?

  • Are ladders suitable for specialist applications (eg Fibreglass / wood for live electrical work ?

Mobile Plant

  • Does mobile plant appear to be in good, serviceable condition ?

  • Is the plant registered (where required by Law) and have relevant maintenance / test records available ?

  • Is the Operator Licenced (where required by Law) and observed as being competent in the use and operation of the plant ?

  • Is a Mobile a Plant SWMS readily available, understood and being followed by involved workers ?

  • Are plant alarms fitted and operational (reversing beeper / flashing beacon etc) ?

Electrical

  • Do Trade's electrical tools and equipment appear to be in a safe, undamaged condition ?

  • Are Trades electrical tools and equipment tested and tagged at 3 month intervals (current tags / records) ?<br><br>

  • Is the electrical supply (eg Domestic Meter Box) AS3012 compliant ?

  • Is the Construction Power circuit RCD tested regularly (PC monthly, Trades daily) ?

  • Are Trade's electrical leads a suitable length and run to avoid standing water and mechanical damage ?

  • Have overhead powerlines been identified, risk assessed and protected where there is a possible risk to plant and workers ?

Environmental

  • Have environmental protection measures been implemented (eg sediment controls, temp downpipes, mulch, settlement ponds etc) ?

  • Are hours of operation restrictions / noise reduction / dust suppression measures in place ?
