3.0 Housekeeping

4.0 Gas Cylinders

Must be in use ( Not stored in the laboratory)

Are correctly secured ( ie individual chains) and protected from damage.

Have correct regulators and fittings ( if cylinders or regulators are greater than 10 years old they need to be checked and tested. See information on neck of cylinder.

5.0 Pressure vessels

Details available ( ie maximum pressure and operating temperature; hazard class etc)

Appropriate testing and maintenance is conducted.

If the pressure vessels are registered with Worksafe , the required inservice inspections are conducted and the licences kept current ( e.g for large autoclaves,air compressors) Provide specific details to the OHS Consultant if not sure to ascertain requirements.

7.0 chemical Storage and labelling.

Storage on open shelving: All containers are less than 5 kg or L in size.

On shelves greater than 1.5 m high all glass containers are less than 1 kg or L size

All containers in cupboards are less than 4 kg or L in size.

Flammable Chemicals ( including waste) <br>Flammables Cabinet: The self closing mechanism do the doors are operating correctly.

Contents of the Flammables cabinets are with its load limits ( 100 L max for 4 person lab ca 60 Sq M)

Not more than 10 L of class 3 , flammable liquid is to be stored on open shelves / lab ( 60 sq M)
