  • A fish tailed test key is used, which is inserted into a test facility normally found adjacent to or forming part of the lighting circuit, which could be next to a communal distribution board, or on corridor locations. Test all emergency lights by interrupting the mains supply using test key switch (please note the power only need to be disconnected for enough time to check the emergency lighting has switched on) - This test should be carried out on individual lights or circuits in order to restore the mains supply to the battery as quickly as possible otherwise the battery can become damaged. Check each relevant emergency light is illuminated Restore mains supply via test switch (or re-energise via circuit breaker). Once restored check that all normal lighting has returned back on. If any faults are noted, raise a remedial job with your Line Manager.
