Sub Contractors

Under ground services

  • Are dial before you dig plans available?

  • Have dial before you dig plans been read and understood?

Excavation

  • Is an experienced spotter in place for any mechanical excavation?

  • If the excavation is in excess of 1.5m deep or in unstable ground, have correct shoring/benching/battering procedures been implemented?

  • Is a gas detector inserted into the excavation where complete or available to be inserted prior to entry if excavation still ongoing?

Entering the Excavation

  • Is the excavation safe to enter?

  • Does the excavation possess the contributing factors to be classified as a confined space?

  • If excavation is classified as a confined space. Has a confined Space entry permit been completed by a trained person?

  • Are correct manual handling techniques being adhered to whilst shovelling?

Repair of pipework

  • Is correct PPE being worn?

  • Have any hazardous substances been identified?

  • Is the person performing the repair of the pipe work suitably qualified/experienced?

Vehicles

  • Are vehicles being kept in acceptable state?

  • Is fuel being stored in proper containers?

  • Do all vehicles have adequate signage on them?
