Always prepare the change area first making sure there are gloves, wipes, bin bags and paper towel.

Wash hands

Place paper towel on the change table

Put on disposable gloves

Assist the child up onto the nappy change table

At all times one hand must be on the child to prevent them from falling

Place any soiled clothing into a nappy bag and seal. Leave note in diary for parent to collect from soiled clothing tub.

Remove dirty nappy and put into bin
-
Clean the child’s bottom using wipes, wiping from front to back
-
Remove paper towel and wipes into lined bin
-
Remove gloves before touching the clean nappy and clothing by peeling back from your wrists, turning them inside out as you go. Place gloves in the bin.

Put on clean nappy and dress the child

Wash your hands and the child’s hands

Take the child away from the nappy change area
-
Clean the nappy change bed after each use with detergent and water
-
Wash your hands according to the hand washing procedure
-
At the end of each completed round of nappy changes, disinfect the mat and leave standing upright to dry for at least 10 minutes
