1. Information

  • Is emergency first aid / fire information displayed prominently throughout the office?

5. Electrical

  • Is all electrical equipment checked on a regular basis?

  • Are sockets free from visible damage, cracks, burns and stains?

  • Are plug cables and sockets free from visible damage?

6. Storage

  • Has suitable storage been provided for any dangerous substances (cleaning materials, paints etc)?

  • Is there adequate storage space in the office?

  • Is present storage space used in a safe and effective manner?

  • Is there suitable access to high storage areas?

  • Are the heaviest items stored at waist height?

  • Are there adequate trolleys to move goods or postal deliveries?

7. Comfort

  • Is the temperature of the office comfortable for most people? (At least 16° but usually 21°)

  • Is the ventilation (airflow) in the office comfortable for most people?

  • Are floors free of debris? (paper/rubbish)

  • Is the humidity in the office comfortable for most people?

8. Slips, trips and falls

  • Are traffic routes free from trailing cables or leads?

  • Is the area free from personal effects (bags, shopping, coats etc) causing trip hazards?

  • Are all floor coverings free of holes & snags?

  • Are floor coverings securely fixed?

  • Is all furniture stable and in good repair?

  • Are traffic routes free from anything stacked dangerously?

9. Health matters and welfare

  • Have details of any works related health problems within the office been brought to the attention of the health and safety representative?

  • Is special consideration given to the health and safety of pregnant/breastfeeding women?

  • Are washing facilities provided for all personnel?

  • Is tea point equipment (fridge/water boiler) clean and in good condition?

  • Is an adequate supply of fresh drinking water provided?

  • Is the kitchen sink & drainer clean and in good order?

10. Training

  • Have all personnel completed the online training?

  • Have all personnel had an induction?

  • Have you any training needs (first aid, fire warden, manual handling etc) that need to be completed or refreshed?

11. Valet Bay specific risks

  • Have all items been COSHH assessed and records kept?

  • Are all COSHH items stored correctly?

  • Is the COSHH cupboard labelled and a poster on display?
