This site safety inspection must be completed with all relevant information including but not limited to photo's, discussions, verbal instructions to contractors etc. If NO has been marked for a question, actions of rectification must be included and followed up by the site manager. All reports to be sent to relevant persons and New Choice Homes client liaison for our records.

General

  • Is the building sign displayed in a prominent location?

  • Are site safety signs displayed? (High voltage, nail gun in use, etc)

  • Do all workers onsite have a construction induction (white card) card and has this been sighted by site manager?

  • Is the OHS management plan at the meter box?

  • Are all workers onsite aware of the OHS management plan?

  • Has a SWMS been developed for any high risk activities being undertaken?

First Aid Incidents

  • Do trades onsite have sufficient first aid kits available?

  • Are first aid kits stocked and in a satisfactory order?

  • Are all injuries, incidents and near misses recorded and reported to the site manager?

Working at Heights/Scaffolding

  • Has a SWMS been developed where there is a risk for a person falling 2m or more?

  • Are appropriate fall protections in place for works at 3m in height and over?

  • Do scaffold or working platforms over 2m high have a fall protection and kick boards or containment screens?

  • Have scaffolds over 4m in height been erected by a licensed scaffolder?

  • Is handover compliance certificate displayed on completed scaffold?

Work Areas/Housekeeping

  • Is the site clean internally?

  • Is the site clean externally?

  • Are access and egress ways clear of debris and tripping hazards?

  • Are work areas safe and tidy?

  • Is verge and footpath tidy to ensure public safety?

  • Are containment bins been used and serviced as required?

Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Are workers onsite using appropriate protective footwear?

  • Are workers onsite wearing protective eye wear if foreign objects are being generated?

  • Are workers wearing hearing protection if required?

  • Are trades onsite being sun smart?

Manuel Handling?

  • Are mechanical aids used to minimise manuel handling risk?

  • Are workers onsite using the correct manual handling techniques?

Electrical Equipment

  • Are all electrical tools/leads onsite tagged?

  • Are all guards on powered hand tools in a fully operable state?

  • Are all electrical extension leads onsite organised not to create a trip hazard or running through water?

  • Are RCD's being used?

  • Are controls in place where working in proximity to high voltage electrical cables?

Trenches and Excavations

  • Has a SWMS been developed for any trenches exceeding 1.5m in depth where a person is required to enter?

  • Are trenches/excavations suitable protected to prevent persons from falling in?

  • Have enquiries been made with "dial before you dig" prior to starting?
