Visual Inspection Checklist:

  • Has a Log Book been provided and in use?

  • Are Lift/Tie down points clearly marked and has certification/verification been provided? (where not proprietary item fitted by manufacturer)

  • Are compliance / ID plates fitted to the plant & legible?

  • Is the reverse / motion beeper functioning and audible?

  • Is the flashing light fitted and functioning?

  • Are tyres properly fitted and in safe and operable condition?

  • Are safe work limits (ratio of gradients) clearly identified (refer to operator's manual)

  • Is the safe Working Load (SWL) or Working Load Limit (WLL) clearly marked?

  • Are all controls clearly labelled/marked and operating including emergency stop, emergency lowering device, "deadman"controls, motion controls and horn? <br>*Check both ground control panel and platform control panel<br>*Check the operator joystick or lever is guarded to prevent inadvertent activation

  • Can the working platform be lowered in an emergency via a single emergency descent/ lowering device/ control?

  • Is the speed of the Scissor Lift restricted to tortoise or slow speed while the working platform is elevated?

  • Are all hot surfaces (e.g: engine & exhaust) and rotating/ moving parts (e.g: nip/ pin points) adequately guarded?

  • Is the working platform in good condition and free of obvious damage and corrosion e.g: floor, handrails and frame?

  • Is the personal access gate self-locking and operating?

  • Is the scissor structure and associated components free of obvious visual damage, distortion, corrosion,rust or wear and tear?

  • Are stabilisers/outriggers free of damage, cracking, distortion or excessive wear?

Diesel engines :
