Pre Use Checklist

  • Safe Operation: I have read the Standard Operating Procedure and understand how to safely use the Pillar Drill.

  • Correct PPE: Ensure you are wearing the correct PPE before operating the machinery. The correct PPE includes safety boots, safety glasses, hi-vis clothing, safety gloves and hearing protection.

  • Pre Use Check: Ensure workspace and walkways are free of any trip and fall hazards.

  • Pre Use Check: Ensure the machine frame and structure are stable and in good condition.

  • Pre Use Check: Visually check for any signs of wear, rust, or damage on the machine’s exterior.

  • Pre Use Check: Check and ensure the guarding is in place and in good condition.

  • Pre Use Check: Identify ON/OFF switch and emergency stop button.

  • Pre Use Check: Check and ensure the drill bit is tight in the chuck and they are both fit for purpose.

  • Pre Use Check: Ensure the work piece is securely clamped.

  • Pre Use Check: Ensure the correct drill speed has been set.

  • Note: Keep your hands clear of work pieces and the rotating tools at all times.

  • Note: Clean swarf weekly when the machine is not in operation.
